These works from the past decade show my continued interest in “ambiguous space” created by the tension between the illusionistic and the flat. I am also fascinated with edges and the space between and around things/objects. In the constructed reliefs, the disintegration of subjects into colour interactions of shape, collage and pattern, create a vortex of energy. The waterscapes explore mood, stillness, and fleeting moments in time, ranging from recognizable scenes to grid-like abstractions to where the physicality of paint and texture – built up with drips, squirts and gels – has become another dimension. The resulting effect is one of vibrancy and energy, leading the viewer into a non-objective visual world of sensual perception.
